Submersible Pump and Motor Sets FAQs

What are submersible pumps and motors used for?

Our pump and motor complete assemblies are used for industrial pumping applications. Common applications are seawater lift, firewater lift, caisson drain pumps, hull-ballast & de-ballast pumps, water injection, cooling water pumps, booster pumps, jockey pumps, process pumps, marine thrusters, marine secondary propulsion, mud rise pumps, petrochemical fluids, and cavern pumps. We also support borehole pump units, predominantly used in nuclear and water applications.

Are your submersible pumps and motors environmentally friendly?

Yes. To provide cooling of the stator and lubrication to the fluid-film journal and thrust bearings of the motor, we use glycol as opposed to oil. Glycol will not jeopardize the marine environment in the unlikely event of a mechanical seal leak, making our pumps and motors one of the world’s safest for ocean environments.

How often do you service a submersible pump and motor?

Our submersible pumps and motors are designed to be low maintenance with service intervals up to 8 years. However, occasionally service is required depending on how often it’s used. Hayward Tyler offers Condition Monitoring Systems to monitor your equipment’s condition and its mechanical, electrical, and operational health using the Model-Based Voltage and Current (MBVI) technique. This enables you to remotely monitor your system from anywhere, forecast its condition, and avoid unnecessary maintenance and breakdowns.

How long does a submersible pump and motor last?

They have been tested to run up to 40,000 hours between maintenance and have a typical lifespan of 25 years.

What kind of support do you offer for your submersible pumps and motors?

We offer a range of aftermarket services, including spare parts, service, and upgrades. We are dedicated to supporting our clients and ensuring maximum uptime and service life. We utilize multiple resources to rapidly respond to your support needs with engineering, technical support, repairs, and parts supply. Our field service capabilities include on-site engineering to investigate and repair units depending on the severity of the failure. We also work with repair specialists around the world to ensure your repair is timely.
