careers-uk@haywardtyler.comAs a Production Engineer at Hayward Tyler, you will define and workout how the product will be manufactured and/or assembled in production including design of tooling ensuring the right quantity of components/products are delivered and aligned to support the speed of the production. You will review efficiencies and eliminate waste within the manufacturing process to deliver high quality products/components to clearly defined standards.
What you will do:
The main duties will be to:
• Design, development, control of manufacturing methods including PFMEA required to produce products in the most efficient, low risk and cost-effective way.
• Specify, design, and develop tooling as required to produce products as required per customer orders and other work.
• Evaluate manufacturing processes by designing and conducting research programs; applying knowledge of product design, machining, fabrication, assembly, tooling, and materials; conferring with equipment vendors; soliciting observations from operators.
• Develop manufacturing processes by studying product requirements; researching, designing, modifying, and manufacturing methods/equipment; conferring with equipment vendors. This includes the selection of machinery in consultation with relevant stakeholders.
• Full Part Master Routings within Epicor to define all manufacturing and subcon operations and material required for manufacture, assembly test, packing and dispatch of the product.
• Improve manufacturing efficiency by analysing and planning workflow, space requirements, and equipment layout.
• Support measured reduction of Engineering Lead Times and Time to Market. Ensure all manufacturing requirements are addressed in the M0 to M5 process to ensure clean handover to Operations.
• Mentor Production Engineers; provide guidance and pass on experience to less experienced engineers.
• Assure product and process quality by designing testing methods, testing finished- product and process capabilities, establishing standards, confirming manufacturing processes.
• Provide manufacturing decision-making information by calculating production, labor, and material costs, reviewing production schedules & estimating future requirements.
• Prepare product and process reports by collecting, analysing, and summarising information and trends, including the development, management and control of documents issued to customers to aid and or as per requirements by customers.
• Maintain product and process data base by writing computer programs, entering data.
• Complete design and development projects by training and guiding technicians.
• Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks, participating in professional societies.
What you will need:
• Degree/Advanced/Higher Apprenticeship in Engineering.
• 5+ years of work experience in a Production Engineer role or equivalent at a manufacturing site.
• British passport holder (dual nationality allowed, but first must be British).
• Sound understanding of manufacturing methods around machining, welding, and assembly.
• Ability to read & interpret engineering drawings, standards, and specifications.
• Excellent organisational skills and ability to meet deadlines and work under pressure.
• Proficient in Microsoft packages.
• Proficient in SolidWorks or equivalent CAD software.
• Sound quality judgement and decision-making capability.
• Team player with good interpersonal skills and ability to communicate confidently and persuasively with a wide variety of people.
• Ability to collaborate and make pragmatic decisions that ensure compliance and quality while considering cost, schedule, and risk.
Desirable:
• CAD/CAM Software (CAMWorks).
• CNC programming both on & offline capable.
• Tool Maker/Design
• Previously worked on machinery.
• Epicor 9/10 Experience.
• Knowledge of ISO 90001
