The Compliance Officer supports business needs and continuous improvement efforts through appropriate focus on regulatory and compliance policies and procedures.
Job Description and Duties:
Summary
The Compliance Officer is primarily responsible for ensuring Hayward Tyler’s adherence to applicable laws, regulations, and internal policies related to Export Control for all of HTI’s North American locations as required. These include Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI), International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR), as well as DoE, NRC, and EAR export controls. Secondarily, the compliance officer is responsible for compliance with other contractual requirements, such as, but not limited to, commercial terms and conditions as well as customer technical requirements.
Primary Duties:
Coordinates company-wide compliance with U.S. Export Control laws and regulations, including ITAR, CUI and any other applicable state and federal regulations such as those established by the DoE, NRC, and EAR.
Maintains records and documentation required under Export Control laws.
Oversees compliance with CUI requirements, including training, documentation, and system controls.
Develops and maintains internal compliance policies, procedures, and training programs.
Conducts internal audits and assessments; identifies non-compliance risks and recommends/implements corrective actions.
Interfaces with legal counsel, government agencies, and external auditors as needed.
Secondary Duties:
Secondary duties are those related to contract related compliance.
Reviews, supports Sales and Business Development in negotiating, and establishes methods for compliance with terms and conditions including FARs, DFARs, and other referenced requirements.
Ensures quality of, and compliance with, compliance matrices for customer requirements.
Creates, reviews, maintains, and audits general company procedures and processes.

Minimum qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (e.g., Engineering, Business, Law, or related discipline) or equivalent work experience.
• Minimum 3 years of experience in a compliance role, preferably within a regulated industry, or equivalent combinations of education, training and related experience.
• Strong knowledge of U.S. Export Control laws. Preference for knowledge of ITAR, DoE, NRC, EAR, and CUI guidelines.
• Excellent organizational, analytical, and communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and work cross-functionally.
• Ability to travel to all HTI North American facilities to carry out primary and secondary duties.
• Certified Compliance & Ethics Professional (CCEP) or similar credential preferred.
• Experience working in a manufacturing or defense environment preferred.
• U.S. citizenship required (due to access to export-controlled materials).
